fun time and almost 2 yrs old!

We have been enjoying this fourth year of Medical School. I still remember when we moved from Provo to College Station. Nicky was barely 8 months old and graduating from Medical School looked so far away. We are almost there! In a couple of months Glenn is going to be graduating from Medical School. Before that happens, we are trying to spend as much time together as we can. Glenn does a magnificient job playing with the kids now that the weather has let us. Here are some pics about it.
We also had Ashelyn Chapman who by the way got along very well with Ian since both of them love trains.
Here is Ian's first time playing hop-skotch. He loves it.
We also decided to celebrate Ian's b-day earlier. Since my sister and her family are not going to be able to come on Monday March 2nd when Ian actually turns 2. We started by eating home made pizza. Then after we all were fed we let the kids make the last pizza, which by the way was the best pizza of the three that we made! Ian was very careful to put all his ingredients in the exact same place, while Nicky showed her cousin Merary how to decorate the pizza like a true chef. After that we ate and sang Happy b-day/Feliz Cumpleanos to Ian. Then we cut the cake and ate it with some ice cream. After that we opened the presents, and after each one was opened Ian quickly said, "I wanna open the door" which was his way of saying, "I want you to open it so I can play with it." We're working on that one. :) Since Ian got "Cars" (dvd), he immediately wanted to watch it. At the end of the movie it was really late, but the kids really wanted to play with this tail game that our good friends The Hobbs sent for Ian's b-day. They loved it. It was definitely a hit. I can't belive my baby is going to be 2 yrs old in a couple of days. I still remember when he was just a tiny little baby with this eagle-screech cry. So cute. Now he is becoming a toodler with his demanding voice when he sees mommy in a good mood or his sweet Mommy "peas" (please) when he sees mommy not in a very good mood:)

about my date!

In the morning I woke up and Nicky was already so excited to go and watch a movie with me. So we bathed and got ready for our date. Unfortunately when I went to her room I noticed one of her dolls was in the trash and broken. So I had to tell her something about it. In my mind I was thinking, "CRUMBS THIS DATE IS OVER AND RUINED!" But then Nicky apologized and we "fixed" the problem. I was fixing her hair trying new syles. The first one was lots of small ponytails in front of her hair in a line. She saw herself in the mirror and started laughing. I asked her if she liked it and she told me with a laugh, "NO! IT LOOKS LIKE A CROCODILE MOUTH!" I joined her laughter and changed the style. I made a half ponytail and I used a pinnk rubber band to hold it up, then I asked her to see herself in the mirror. She then giggled and told me, "MOMMY, I DON'T LIKE IT. IT LOOKS LIKE AN ICE CREAM CONE!" I laughed again and finally I asked her what she wanted and she told me, "MOM I JUST WANT MY 2 CHONGOS (PONYTAILS) AND MY BANGS. THAT'S ALL." She kept laughing though so at least it wasn't anything dramatic like usual. After that I let the kids play with Glenn who by the way was so nice again with me. He bought me some flowers, a new blender, and of course my favorite chocolate-dipped strawberries with pecan crumbs. Anyway after that we decided to open the kids' Valentines. Nicky was very excited when she got her bf Jay's candies. She and Ian ate them so fast. Then we went to drive around the neighborhood and came back home. Nicky was asking me, "ARE YOU SURE WE ARE GOING TO WATCH A MOVIE?" I told her we were just going to droop off daddy and Ian at home and then we were going to hit the theatre. So we finally went to watch "Coraline" (after the first 15 minutes I was yawning and about to sleep). Nicky on the other hand was so excited and always waiting for something to happen in the movie with the classic, "SHH! SHH! WATCH, WATCH, LOOK WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!" I bought her popcorn and something to drink. She asked me to add some nacho cheese to the popcorn and she loved it. It was quite tasty if I must give my opinion. Anyway, after the movie we went and looked around the stores. Of course when we were at Victoria Secret it was funny when she saw a manniquin with a bikini and told me, "EWWWWWW, GROSS! WE DON'T LIKE THOSE; WE DON'T LIKE SHOWING OUR UNDERWEARS, EITHER." If at least she would have said it soft....anyway more than one giggle came after that sentence. Afterwards she told me she wanted a smootie, so we went and bought smoothies for both of us. Then we stopped by at the playground in the mall and I let her play for 15 minutes. After that we were talking about the movie and the wonders of life.

We came home and Ian as always welcomed me with a big smile and screaming, "MOMMY, MOMMY!" Until he saw Nicky's smoothie he practically pushed me away and told me, "I WANT JUGO (juice)." So Nicky was so generous that she ended up giving him the rest of the smoothie.
Yesterday Glenn and Nicky had their date. Ian and I went to the park with the girls in the neigbhorood to exchange some Valentine treats. I was surprised that all the kids were playing together...ALL OF THEM from Taylin (5 yrs old) to Kennedy (19 months old). I love seeing all of them playing together and being nice to each other...most of the time :) Glenn told me he had a good lunch with Nicky at her school. She has become very popular with her boy classmates. I'm not scared because Glenn and I have noticed that she doesn't pay attention to them. She totally told me she is waiting for Jay...kids. Of course she also told me, "LOOK, MOMMY! SINCE JAY IS NOT HERE, MASON WILL BE MY BEST FRIEND, AND WHEN JAY COMES BACK WE CAN GET MARRIED IN THE TEMPLE!" What is with this face in the bf's picture?!

Anyway Glenn and I have been celebrating V-day since yesterday. But our big day will be sometime in the future. I normally baked and cooked for him, but this year it has been hard with the pregnancy. I feel better, don't get me wrong, but we also are taking our precaution by not abusing my good health. I'm so tired. Anyway I wish you all had a great V-day.

Chicks Flicks and Manly Men

Well since the arrival of this baby is getting closer Glenn and I have noticed Nicky's behavior being weird. We don't know what could be SO we are blaming the new things that are going on here. I told Glenn that I'm going to get closer to her. So I invited her to watch a movie on Valentine's day. She is so excited about the idea. The problem is that yesterday while I was checking what movie we could watch together, for a moment I remembered my youngest times in Monterrey when we had lots of choices and there was always something good to watch with kids awwwwwwwwwwww...but then I checked online and I was looking at the schedule for Saturday and there is nothing good to watch with her. Now I'm in a big problem. I want to take Nicky, but there are no movies to watch. I saw two options and I might tell her to watch the trailers with me so she can choose which one. There is one about dogs that I know she is not going to like. There is another animated one, kind of looks creepy. Anyway, I'll see what I'll do with this. I'm so excited because after the movie I'll take her to eat, or do something fun together. My first date with my daughter, YAY!
Glenn is going to take advantage of this to take Ian out, do something manly together. They might play or watch sports. Ian loves playing soccer or basketball, the only thing that he needed to do to be just like another guy in the world was asking for dinner, and he did it for the first time yesterday. At first I didn't get it. I was preparing dinner when Ian came to the kitchen to ask me, "INNER WEDY?" I told him to get out of the kitchen. He sadly left. Then he came back and asked me again, this time with a more determined voice, "MOM ISH INNER WEDY?" So I looked at him and asked him, "DO YOU MEAN IF DINNER IS READY?" and he nodded and said, "YESH!" I told him that I would need 5 more minutes to be done and serve him so he touched his chin and looked around and saw the bananas and told me, "MMM, I WAN A BANNANA!" So I guessed he was really hungry. I told him to wait, and that I didn't want to spoil his dinner and of course he was disappointed and went sadly to the living room.
I'll keep you updated on our date, and actually now that I think about it, Glenn will be on his second daddy-daughter date with Nicky tomorrow at school. Have a great one!

My thougtful daughter :)

Today Glenn let the kids watch Kung Fu Panda while I was cooking dinner. I was done so I was about to serve the food, and I told Glenn to put the little tray tables in the living room so the kids could watch the movie while eating. We asked Nicky to say the prayer and she of course answered us, "ABSOLUTELY!" and she began. She said a beautiful prayer were she mentioned everybody. Her friends, cousins, parents, brother, sister, etc. etc. etc. At the end of the prayer we told her that it was a beautiful prayer and with a voice of happiness, but tiredness at the same time, she exclaimed, "YEAH, I WANTED TO PRAY FOR THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD." lol.

Ian on the other hand reminded me of my dad. My dad is awesome and everytime he would watch an action movie he would copy the tough movements. Like for example Bruce Lee: he would immediatly start with the classic "YAH! HU! CHA!" scream while "doing karate." Well to my surprise we caught Ian doing the same while he was watching Kungfu Panda. He kept "hitting" the air, and when I was close enough I could see the adrenaline in his eyes. Then he started to do punches in my arm and in my belly (not hard at all, but funny), then I looked at him with a smile and all of a sudden it's like he remembered I'm pregnant, so he immediately told me, "SOWY (sorry), MAMI" and kissed me.

Also, it was fun because our little baby that we're awaiting decided to follow Ian's example during the fight scenes. I don't know if it was the music or not, but as Ian was kicking and punching the air, imitating the kung fu he saw, the baby was kicking a LOT! She might just be practicing for when she gets older, and has to defend herself from her Bruce Lee brother. :)

They are so cute and still so diferent. I can't wait to add this new baby to the family :)
