I'm cheating and I loved it!

One of my favorite hobbies is reading. Another one is using the computer. Another one is watching my novelas and shows while I cook. This last one is hard to do since I normaly try to manage the cooking while I talk on the phone and watch to my novelas at the same time. A few weeks ago I decided that I was becoming dumber and dumber, and I'm tired of complaining about it. I decided to start reading a book. I had so many good suggestions for some of my friends. So I started with the Twilight saga. The first book was SO BORING, it was like homework for me to read it. It got more interesting little by little. One of my friends lent me the first two books. It took me like a month and a half to read the first book. I just didn't have time to read it. Then I read the second one. It was more interesting so I finished it in just 3 days (of course, this is counting the fact I was going to sleep until 3 to 4 a.m. reading the book; the only time that I have to read is after the kids go to bed). After I finished New Moon I felt it. The need, the intrigue to read the third one. I didn't want to go to the store and buy it. Not now. I remembered one of my friends told me she read it on the computer. I thought it was better than nothing so I googled it and there it was. The answer to all my prayers. The audio books. I started listening to it from the moment I woke up and during the whole day. I didn't have to stay away from my kids, or the duties of home to "read" my book. It actually put me in a good mood. Since everytime that I read I don't really enjoy it because I always had something that had it to be done. It felt like cheating since reading is good for me. Grammar, spelling, and vocabulary are some of the things that I picked up everytime that I read something. However listening to the audio wasn't that bad. I had to understand everything that the lady was saying. Somehow I did understand. I enjoyed it. I have received so many suggestions for books to read. I just hope somebody bothers enough to put them online. Otherwise it is going to be very dificult for me to read.

Now even though I'm not very into twilight mania, I have to confess that the description of that Edward reminded me of my handsome and wonderful husband in so many ways. How does this saga brought me closer to him? I have always respected him and loved him, but when Bella was discribing the way she felt with her Edward and the way he was with her, it was like me talking about my Glenn. Everynight when I went to sleep I would look at him and observe him in his sleep. I would touch his arm and feel butterflies in my stomach. Is it possible? I mean we have been married for almost 6 years and he still makes me feel butterflies. Yeah I know I'm cheesy and I LOVE IT! He is one of a kind. He really cares about my happiness and our kids and he just makes me feel so unique in so many ways. No matter how ugly I look, or how fat I got or how bad my breath is he always tells me I look gorgeous. Maybe that's why sometimes it's hard for me to believe him. I'm a lucky and blessed woman for having him with me.

Okay enough of the chessiness. Let talk about this week's quotations from my kids.

Nicky has been sad for the last couple months. She will get sad for periods of times. I hate when I see her like that. The other day I told her that she needed to count her blessings. If there was no reason to be sad she shouldn't look for it. Then I made her remember all the blessings that she has like a family, a home, the church, health, etc. Of course the material things, too. Toys, computer, pirincess, a bed, etc.. I explained that Heavnely Father has provied us with so many blessings and he gets sad everytime that he sees we are not happy. Not everything can be perfect, but count your blessings. I told her about all those less furtunate that has nothing to play with but a stick. She saw my face get very sad because she wasn't appreciating all that she has. Then with her frustrated voice told me, "MOM, DON'T WORRY. YOU KNOW I'M ALL ABOUT THE DRAMA."

I didn't know what to say. She was playing this role too good for her age. Next day I took the kids to McDonalds and on the way back Nicky asked for her friend Livi to come home with us. I told her that I was going to be very busy, but maybe next day she could come and visit. Then she got ALL SAD. I asked her why she was sad and told me, "YOU MADE ME SAD." Then I asked her why if we went to McDonalds and had fun. Then she said, "MOM, IF YOU WANT ME TO BE HAPPY, YOU HAVE TO DO ALL THAT I SAY." Of course that was enough for my patience. Right there she touched the bottom of it. When we came back home I told her I was going to give her a reason to be sad. I sent her to her room and asked her to think about what she said and did.

Next day we were going to go to the pool. She wanted to show off her new umbrella to her friend. I didn't want that, because with two 2 years old and just one cute umbrella the mess was going to be big. I told her no and perhaps tomorrow. She got all sad. For the first time I fulfilled my promise. I gave her 2 choices: 1, go to her room and be punished, or 2, put on her swimming suit and be happy. She decided for the first one. Thinking of course I was going to let her go to the pool anyway. I sent her to her room. My friend took her girls to the pool and I sayed with my kids. Nicky cried like somebody was killing her when she heard the door. She was so sad. I explained to her that she was still punished and she needed to go back to her room. Then she told me she was going to be happy. After that day, she really is trying to be happy and being very obedient. I don't know for how long this is going to last, but she surely is ALL ABOUT THE DRAMA right now.

It's late. I better go to sleep and save this post to finish until later...

How is he coming up with that?

I have no doubt that each kid in this world is the reflection of their own parents. For good or bad it's true.
(this pictures are from BYU game. Can you tell Ian learns fast? this was his first game with his dad)
Today I was reading. I was so intrigued about this book. I told Glenn, "PLEASE PUT A MOVIE SO IAN WOULD LET ME FINISH MY BOOK." Ian immediatly asked for Ice Age. He is so into all kinds of movies with dangerous, wild animals in them. He was sitting in the middle of the room in his personal small chair while I was laying down next to him in the grown up couch. I was reading my book as much as I could concentrate, since Ian was distracting me every 5 seconds with his comments about the movie. "MOM, MOM! LOOK AT IT. IT'S A TIGER, OH AND LOOK AT THE BABY, TOO! THE BIG ELEPHANT AND AND..." me, "YES, IAN, YES IT'S NICE, BUT PLEASE WATCH THE MOVIE AND LET ME READ MY BOOK." Ian, "AH, OK." (two seconds later) "MOM, MOM! LOOK, THEY'VE GOT THE BABY, MOM. LOOK AT IT! LOOK A IT!" (sigh) me, "YES, IAN. WOW, THAT'S PRETTY SAD, BUT PLEASE LET ME READ MY BOOK, IAN." (Ian) "SORRY, MOM. OKAY, OKAY." As a mom I felt the remorse that I wasn't sharing this pricless moment with my son, so I decided that I will stop reading for a bit and enjoyed the movie with my cute son. I was trying to follow his excitment with the movie so I was quick to point out one of the scenes in the movie. Apparently it was a really good one since I told Ian, "LOOK, IAN! WOW! THAT LOOKS AWESOME! DID YOU SEE THE TIGER JUMPING LIKE..?" (then Ian interrupted me) "MOM! SHHHH! BE QUIET."
Glenn and I just couldn't believe that he told me that. Of course he said it in a polite voice. Now you may be thinking how horrible your two year olds are telling you to be quiet. But again, he is just my reflection, so I guess next time I need to show him that he is more important than a book right?

On another note BYU WON!!! HALLELUJAH! This week was worth it even with my strep.

August part II

Well some other tibits to rememer: I forgot to write down that we now have a new member of the family. Her name is LOLA THUMBULINA DINASOUR WALKER. Can you guess who decided on the name of our new addition?
She is so cute and shy. It's actually our second hamster. The first one was named Phoebe, but since we had to move to Texas we had to give her to somebody else. So far we have had 2 hamsters and 2 fishes. Kate and Oscar passed away. Our dear Oscar passed away after one year and a half of being part of our family. Kate passed away after we left her with our friend Robin. However, we feel so close to LOLA, and I think it is the first time we feel so attached to our pet. Even Glenn feels she's part of the family. My friend DD has a hamster, too, and she offered to lend her to us for the year if we wanted to. Her hammster is so nice and obedient. Poor Lola, she is very shy. I had the thought of returning her to the pet shop and getting DD's hamster, but Glenn told me that he would prefer to keep LOLA since he feels she is part of the fam.
Another thing to remember: Nicky started pre-k 4 this past Monday. She is having fun and already has made 2 friends: Livi (who is in our ward) and Jasmin. Jasmin is a girl who just speaks Spanish. Nicky thinks it's so cool and she even told me, "MAMA, JAZMIN IS TEACHING ME SPANISH. I KNOW HOW TO SAY SCHOOL IN SPANISH. LISTEN. SCHOOL IN SPANISH IS SCUELA (escuela)." She practices her Spanish everytime that she is able. I'm sure she will be fluent soon if she keeps practicing.
Ian misses her so much. Everytime that we drop her off at school, he gets very sad and every time we come back home he looks like a little ghost screaming, "NICKYYYY! NICKYYY, WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUUU! COME BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!" I keep telling him to be able to go to school he MUST stop using diapers. Let see if I can convince him with this one. The price of replacing this apartment's carpet is ridiculous, so that's why I decided to postpone the potty training. However, everytime that I can, I encourage him to stop wearing diapers. He had a great reply to Glenn today after Church, because he said he was going to Nicky's school. Glenn told him he had to be a big boy and not use diapers, but he said no. Glenn asked him, "DO YOU WANT TO BE A BIG BOY OR A LITTLE BOY WITH DIAPERS?" Ian said, without a pause, "I WANNA BE A BIG BOY, BUT LITTLE." We had no response. :)
Hanna still a cutie chunky chunks. There is no day that when I go outside someobdy stops me to tell me how beautiful she is (I know she is so pretty, but also cute with SO many rolls lol). Tonight I'm having the beehives over to watch a movie at our place. So I need to keep going. ...turns out not everything was good news to end the month. Glenn's car's AC was stolen while he was on call thi s past week, and he also got sick while he was on call at the same time...but at least he wasn't there while they were stealing the AC! Count our blessings, right?
adios

August is almost over sniff sniff...

Our August has been very nice, generous, and FUN!First our very good friends came to town for a vistit. To my surprise, Grant and Ian did better this time. They still had fights, but not as often as they did before. It was hilarous to see them fight. As my friend Linds said, "IT WAS LIKE LOOKING AT TWO UMPIRES ARGUING NOSE TO NOSE!" hahaha. However, they are getting to know each other. I saw them playing better and sharing better this time. :) Nicky and Jay are just very good friends. They respect each other and care for each other's happiness. It touches my heart when Jay was playing with the boys and saw Nicky all by herself and went with her to give her company. I just feel very blessed that theyare keeping a sincere friendship since a young age.
We went to the Dallas Zoo next day after their visit. We just did half of the Zoo. It is H U G E. Very nice zoo, if I may say.

We did the monorail to cool off a little bit.

The zoo has this area for the kids to cool off. Ian and grant got SO wet that they came back home with just diapers. :) On a side note we went to the children's area, and they have made our friend Jay a "poopologist," meaning somebody who is an expert in classifying poops. That is right (unfortunately): they make the kids play this game of, "Guess whose poops belongs to what animal?" CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I'm telling ya HILARIOUS! (and gross)

After the zoo we went and took advanage of some coupons for FREE food that I had. We got to have wings...YUM!...and fast food from A&W rootbeer. Next day Lindsay was planning on leaving. I was able to convince her to stay one more day, which was perfect since I had to register Nicky for pre-K, and she was SO helpful. It made me realize that I do need to have a way to reach my hubby haha. Thanks, Lindsay. I couldn't have done it with out you. I was clueless about how to get a bill since Glenn pays for them online. I didn't even know the name of the electric company. I was worthless. Thanks to Lindsay's help, everything turned out great. Phewwwwwwwww!
Thanks to that inconvenience, that day was spoiled, but not for long since we went to the pool.

Unfortunately time flies when you are having fun. Thursday came really quick and the Hobbs needed to go back to Oklahoma...awww! However the morning before their departure we pla yed at home and then we went to the mall. After that they left for the I-20 to return safely with their anxious doctor who I bet missed them so much. Thanks guys for coming. It's our turn next. We just need to figure out a convenient time for everybody. However we can't wait to go to the OK zoo:)

Well Sunday came fast and my friend Dee Dee invited us to go ice skating. She is the master of coupons, so she got some for me and Nicky so we didn't have to pay to ice skate. She also had coupons for free rides in the carrousel at the mall and free food at Chick Fil-A...AWESOME! Ian got his turn to ice skate, too. Nicky was afraid at the beginning, but then she was "enjoying" the experience a little bit more. Ian on the other hand loves danger so he thought "walking" on ice was pretty cool. He wouldn't let go my hand, though! However he was very sad that we needed to get off of the ice since Momma got tired of leading him.
Dee Dee's kids are adorable and they were very nice to take care of Hanna while we enjoyed this priceless moment.
It was funny to hear Nicky and Ian at the end telling me, "MOMMA, I WAS AWESOME! DID YOU SEE ME IN THERE? I'M GREAT!" (not cocky at all, huh?)

Thanks Dee Dee for a great day at the mall:) And thanks to your kids for being SO AWESOME!
In August alsoHanna turned 5 MONTHS OLD! I can't believe it. She is always our drama queen. We thought Nicky was good, but Hanna learned fast and the student has already overcome the teacher. :) She loves playing with everybody and watching what we do. She giggles ALL the time and can be a screamer, too. She is a very sweet baby. Very easy to love. :) I just can't believe she is already 5 months old. I keep treating her like a needy baby, but she is SO ready to keep progressing. As soon as I see she wants to crawl I lay her down so she con't be able to do it SO fast. She is a smarty, so she has decided to crawl like the crabs: backwards and using her head and pushing herself with her legs. I just know as soon as she starts walking I'll get baby hungry again and may try to have more babies. I guess my father in-law would be pleased with that since he wants MORE AND MORE GRANDCHILDREN.

She is finally eating baby food and has been taking the formula very well, too. She gets excited everytime she sees this little jar:)

She also enjoys it when her siblings play. She is a great observer and likes to be part of our growing gang. Nicky and Ian like to play with her, too.

I still have more news to share. However it's late so I'll do it during next weekend. nighty night.
