Just being honest!

Me a costado tanto tener amigos reales y honestos.

Claro pense, RAYOS NEVO EN NAVIDAD PERO DUDO QUE VUELVA A PASAR. Nicky seguia recordandome dia a dia "MOM WE HAVE PENDING THE SNOW FAMILY YOU SAID WE WERE GOING TO BUILD". Odio fallar a mis promesas.

She walks!!

Alguna gente cree que soy stuck up. Okay I HATE IT!
I NEED HELP!

Simpre habia escuchado historias de mamas orgullosas que decian "POTTY TRAINTING WAS THE SIMPLEST THING TO ME" or "MY KID WOULD ASK ME TO GO POTTY WHEN HE WAS READY AND HE WAS BARELY 3 YRS OLD"
Ahora yo sere la mama orgullosa que dira "HE WAS THE ONE WHO WANTED TO BE POTTY TRAINED NOT ME" estoy segura que mas de una me va envidiar jaja.

Spanglish?

Este anio he decidio continuar mi blog en espaniol. Tengo muchos motivos personales.
To my friends and long distance relatives that I love with all my heart. I just want to tell you that I'll keep in touch by commenting in your posts and as always through FB who is btw another great way to keep track with you girls. I love you and I'm very grateful with my Heavenly Father to have you in my life.
Poco a poco he dejado de amamantarla.
YOU THINK I DID AWSOME!
GLENN sige trabajando arduamente. Esta sera su ultima semana en Vascular. Ha estado ahi por 2 meses. Pobre, nunca lo he visto tan agotado.
Tantas cosas por hacer, me he divertido mucho.

Poor ducks and geese!

My mother in-law gave me a calendar that plans an activity for each day. It's called Fun Family Activites. I talk to my friend Laura about the activity of the day (for yesterday), it was to feed the ducks. Even though it was horribly windy/cold I didn't want to give up on my goal of doing each one of the activity and perhabp making these activities a family tradition.

Anyway somehow she said yes to my invitation. I grabbed some bread and crackers that I had. The park was beautiful. Seeing all those ducks and gesse was neat. We parked and the kids were anxious to feed the animals. The "animals" where ready to get fed by us. Literally, a starving goose bit my ankle. The kids are normally very happy to feed them but the 4 of them were complaining about these starving creatures. Real life kids normally chase them, but this time the animals chased the kids. It was so funny seeing Ian throwing all the food and running away from them. Nicky would jump behind my legs she was so scared. Ally and Livy were complaining about the geese taking the food out of their hand.

I felt bad for the kids, but more for these little animals. Laura and I were saying that is so unfair to the poor animals. They get so used to eating well during the summer, but during winter nobody goes and feeds them. I might go once per week to feed them. I'll also start encouaging people to do it during the winter, too. So whoever you are are, if you are reading this post, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feed the ducks during the winter!!! Make it a goal, and go and feed the ducks with your family. Those little ones really need to eat, too.

Reciving our New Year and let's the year begin.

"I haven't showered since last year" is one of the jokes that I tell Glenn every New Year. The joke is pretty dead by now. However, I'm planning on sticking to my very own joke.
Our Walker/Soria New Year's Eve party was a success. In spite of Glenn being so tired and singing from the couch most of the time, everything turned out great. We did all our crazy traditions. The kids kept asking us why did we have to put our shoes on the wrong feet (funny as Ian always puts them on that way, but just that day he decided it was uncomfortable so he didn't want to do it). I told him I'd hate to finish the year by spanking him and problem solved. We danced, sang, and as soon as the clock said it was midnight we ate our 12 grapes with a wish for each of them, ran 12 times in and out the door with suitcases in hand (that means we will travel during the year), and then we cheered and hugged. We did all this at midnight. We took our last picture of the year, too. I went outside and beg to the moon with my wallet open to have money all year. Glenn joined me by begging forgiveness for my pagan and superstitious beliefs, clarifying, "WHOEVER SHE IS TALKING TO, PLEASE SHE IS JUST DOING IT TO HAVE FUN, NOT BECAUSE SHE REALLY BELIEVES IT. AND YET, IF WHOEVER YOU ARE WANTS TO GIVE US MONEY, DON'T FORGET TO FILL UP MY WALLET WITH IT, TOO." :) (I thought it was funny) Anyway we still don't have any karaoke Cd's (my friend didn't have time to buy them), but normal CD's work as well. The kids can't read anyway, so I guess it was fine for them to have the voice of the singer to lead them. Even little Hanna sang saying, "DADADADAAAAA!" and at other times she chewed on the microphone.
Here are some pictures of our 2009 NEW YEAR. It's good to finish and start New Year with a good laugh and with all the family together.

Another great blessing: Glenn came with me to Church (on his day off). It was the first Sunday of the year, and my hubby got to go with us! I wish I could make this another tradition too, but that is not in my hands.

There is another memory that I'd like to remember in this blog of mine: A few months ago was call to serve in the nursery. I was playing with this little polynesian boy, pretending that he was scaring me with his Jack in the Box toy. Ian saw this and while we where laughing Ian ran and pushed this kid telling him, "DO NOT SCARE MY MOMMA!" The other kid who, by the way, was taller and WAY THICKER than Ian came back and pushed him back. Then Ian was getting his fist ready to "touch" his face with it... where was I? I was trying to move the other 5 little girls away from me so I could prevent the fight. I stopped Ian just in time and explained to him that we were just playing and that I wasn't scared. He then told me with a very protective voice, "I DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO SCARE YOU, MOM." He is a teaser, but he really is very protective of the people that he loves or is in need of. I feel very neat that my kids are so protective of each other and of us, too.

Ian's solutions!

We were on the way to visit my sister in-law and Nicky was so bored I guess. From no where she told us that she didn't want to be named Nicole anymore. She told me, "MOM, I WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER NAME. ANOTHER MORE BEAUTIFUL NAME." Glenn and I asked her what was wrong with Claudia Nicole, and she said that she liked it, but that she wanted another MORE beautiful name. Then Ian was thinking and told her very cooly, "HOW ABOUT NICOLE WALKER STINKY BUM?" Then Nicky got mad and told him, "NO, IAN! THAT IS A SILLY, UGLY NAME." Then he was so concerned and thoughtful, and had another great idea, "HOW ABOUT NICOLE WALKER STINKY DIAPER HEAD POOPS? THAT SOUNDS GOOD, RIGHT?" Nicky was very angry and Glenn and I were laughing in silence. The funny thing was seeing Ian's puzzled face not understanding why she would be mad after all his great suggestions. After all those were not just beautiful but FUN names as well haha.
I love you Ian:)

Friend's visit, Christmas and Anniversary

After our latest visit with the Hobbs, they lent us the first trilogy of STAR WARS. We were watching one movie per night as a family. Can you tell who was so into it? The girls and I would watch it, but got entertained with other things, too. The guys of our home were mesmerized by it. Of course at the end of each movie Ian was telling us his name was LUKE SKYWALKER! (I always wanted to name him Luke, but Glenn put his foot down saying, "I WON'T MAKE HIS LIFE MISERABLE WITH THAT NAME."). Hearing Ian saying he liked that name made me laugh.

Thanks to JC Penny my kids got very cute Christmas pictures for FREE! Okay, this is not one of the pictures, but it was the day that Nicky and I went to take have her pictures taken. I haven't mailed anything yet since it's been so crazy in here.

My friends Fernando and Gloria came from Monterrey to spend Christmas with us. Fernando is a friend from law school and Gloria is his wife who just happens to be a lawyer, too. We are very passionate about law and how things are changing in Mexico. We were up most of the days until 3:00 to 4:00 a.m. sometimes talking about lawyer stuff. Fernando and I had different points of view and I still think I'm right and he is wrong! haha I did, however, feel very behind with all the law changes that our country is suffering. I forgot why I prefer to ignore some stuff. I get so into it that the first thing that comes to my mind is I WANT TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!

Bu that is not possible right now for three very important reason: I'm trying to at least be the best mom I can offer for my three reasons.

Anyway, we also went to Bass Pro Shop. My friends like all that hunting stuff and they were in heaven seeing all the "toys" that the store has. Hanna was in love with the deer, or at least half of their heads. Bass Pro was providing free pictures with Santa, different games to play with, and also a free merry go round with reindeer and slides. The kids loved it.

We celebrated a white Christmas with snow and everything. Glenn was on call. The kids, my friends and I made gingerbread houses, cookies for Santa, and made some puzzles that we have. We talked about the importance of this day. Since Glenn was on call he wouldn't be home on Christmas until after 1:00 p.m. I let the kids go to sleep until 1:00 a.m. (that way Glenn could be "on time" for them to open the presents). Another miracle of Christmas was that Glenn had a very relaxing call and that he was off duty very early on Christmas day.

He was home at 9:00 a.m. so he was the one who woke us up and we were able to celebrate with him such a special day. The kids were so happy to see their dad at home on time to show him all his gifts...and so was I. It made the day more special. Everybody got what they wanted. Later on that day while the kids and our friends were taking a nap Glenn and I got to go outside and have a small snow fight. For the first time, my aim was good enough to hit Glenn a few times. We had a relaxing Christmas day. The next day Glenn was home early, too, and we went and did some more shopping. Before that, Glenn and the kids got to play in the snow. BTW Nicky thought that was her favorite thing about this Christmas season. That night was our friends' last night with us. They hit the road to Monterrey at 10:00 p.m. We had fun and appreciate their effort to come and visit.
Glenn and I celebrated our anniversary in the most relaxing way possible. Glenn worked hard to get home early from work to make me a nice breakfast in bed. We talked to the kids about the importance of that day in our life. Of course, we kept saying that we cannot believe it's already been 6 years, 3 kids, medical school, and now residency. We didn't think about the future, we just enjoyed the moment and the generosity that our Heavenly Father has for us. We went and visited Glenn's sister in Fort Worth. The kids had fun and we had a good visit. It was fun to see little Christian and little Emma playing with Hanna.

We came back home and put the kids to bed. We let Hanna play with her favorite present and it was fun to see that she really likes following Nicky's steps for ballet doing tip toes all the time :)

BABE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR US. I LOVE YOU. I'M SO GLAD GOD HAS PUT YOU IN MY LIFE AND THAT YOU ARE THE FATHER OF MY CHILDREN. I COULDN'T ASK FOR A BETTER GIFT THAN HAVING A RESPONSIBLE, LOVABLE, FUNNY, HANDSOME, SMART, LOYAL, GOOD MEMBER OF THE CHURCH, BEST FRIEND, THOUGHTFUL, CARING HUSBAND. It's been 6 years and I can't wait for our whole eternity together. I'm so proud of your parents and grateful that they raised a great man. I'm so thankful to our Heavenly Father that we have temples and hope to have an eternity together. I love you and like I always tell you, all the good things that our marriage has been through are special. But the bad things are so special, too, because we're still here, together, and those bad things are just making us better people and a better couple. God trusted nobody else but us to be able to go through that. I feel special and I really think we are special. God loves us so much and I'm so grateful that he keeps holding our hands to guide us back to his presence someday.
TE AMO BEBE ERES EL MEJOR ENSERIO TE LO DIGO! FELIZ 6TO ANIVERSARIO!

Great vacation.

My dad, being a wise man, told me once, "THE ONLY COMPANY OTHER THAN YOUR HUSBAND YOU WILL CHOOSE IN THIS LIFE ARE YOUR FRIENDS. MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE GOOD ONES. THEY WILL BE THE FAMILY ON EARTH THAT YOU HAVE DECIDED TO HAVE." Since then I have been very careful when I pick my friendships. I'm the 11th of 13 kids and have just a few friends that I made through my life. I never thought I was going to move to the States and marry a gringo. I didn't know I was going to leave my family and my choosen family in Monterrey (my friends). I was scared that I wasn't going to be able to find good friends, but man I was wrong. The Lord loves me so much that he kept sending me more "chosen family."
Last week we went and visited our friend Lindsay in Oklahoma. I was planning on visiting Laura (one of Glenn's cousins), but she was in Canada at that time.
The kids and I had so much fun during this visit. We went to the science museum (where Hanna and I sled for the first time together and Ian kept running into himself in the mirror room). Lindsay and I were excited to recognize some of the stars in the planetarium and Jay was so pleased to be able to show Nicky all his favorite spots in the place. Grant was delighted with the idea of screaming at a big tub to hear the echo of it. Bass Pro Store was another of our fun dates. The kids got the chance to take a picture with Santa and asked him what they wanted for Christmas. Nicky told Santa of course she wanted just a camera and Ian was just in a pause until I reminded him about Spiderman...then he started saying so fast, "I WANT A SPIDER MAN AND A BREEN BOBLET [green goblin] and a robot like a mask and cars and something else." The Hobbs clan was having fun shooting while that happened. Then Lindsay gave us a tour of the store, and it was fun to see what they have. Then we lost Nicky for a bit; I was so scared. For the fist time in my life I was truley scared and about to cry in panic. Then I found her and I was yelling at her like crazy holding the tears back in my eyes. Then we thought we lost Lindsay, so Ron, the kids and I were looking for her until we finally "found" her . She was smart enough to wait in the exit in case that somebody wanted to take Nicky out of the store without my permission. Besides that everything was perfect . Wait I think I'm lying: I'm out of practice with making pizza. I made one for the Hobbs that night and it was horrible. I felt so bad that I didn't do it right. She made some apple dumplings that I'm still drooling about YUM! She rented a movie and even though she watched the whole movie I fell asleep after 10 minutes. We also went to Edmond museum. The kids had fun. Nicky was the tender. Jay was the customer who thought he got a very good deal by buying a $7 carrot lol. Grant was the banker and Ian was "Billy the Kid." Lindsay was doing crafts and I was the cow nursing Hanna every time that she would cry because her teething situation.
We made gingerbread houses, played some vtech games, and went shopping. My goodness we had a blast. If somebody knows how to be a great host, that is for sure my friend Lindsay. I'm so happy that my dad taught me well. Lindsay is indeed one of the best friend I have made here in the States. I feel very lucky and blessed that God has put The Hobbs on our path. If somebody knows how to be Christ-like, it's her. Lindsay, thank you so much for everything. You are the best, and I SO OWE YOU BIG TIME THE NEXT TIME I SEE YOU!
